The target is an estimate, so the final size can vary a little depending on the image. Images are only resized if quality alone can't reach it.

Why Use This Compressor

You Set the Target

Choose how large the result should be compared with the original. Quality is reduced first, and images are only resized as a last resort.

Files Stay on Your Device

All processing happens in your browser. Your photos are never uploaded to a server, so they stay on your device.

Batch Friendly

Compress several images at once and save them all in a single ZIP. Your files never end up larger than the originals.

How to Compress an Image

Add images

Drag your JPG, PNG or WebP images into the upload area, or choose them from your device.

Set the level

Use the slider to balance file size against visual quality. Lower values give smaller files.

Download

Click Compress Images, then save each image or download them all as a ZIP.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are my images uploaded anywhere?
No. Your images are compressed in your browser. They are never sent to a server and aren't saved, so they disappear when you refresh or close the page.
Does compressing an image reduce its dimensions?
Usually not. The compressor lowers quality first and keeps the original width and height. It only resizes an image when the target is so small that quality alone can't reach it, and the tool tells you when that happens.
What does the compression slider do?
The slider sets the target file size as a percentage of the original. At 70%, a 1 MB image is compressed to about 700 KB. The result is an estimate, so the final size can vary slightly depending on the image.
Which image formats are supported?
JPEG, PNG and WebP. Each image keeps its own format, so a JPG stays a JPG and a PNG stays a PNG.
Why did my image say "Already optimal"?
If the compressed version would not be smaller than the original, the original is kept. This is common with images that have already been optimised or when the target is close to 100%. Try a lower target to shrink it further.
How are PNG files compressed?
PNGs are made smaller by reducing the number of colours they use. Screenshots, logos and graphics shrink very well, while detailed photos saved as PNG are better converted to JPG or WebP first.
Can I compress more than one image at once?
Yes. Add as many images as you like and they are compressed one after another. Download All saves them in a single ZIP file.
Is there a file size limit?
Each image can be up to 50 MB. Because everything runs on your device, very large images take longer to process.
