What is PDF splitting, and why is it useful?
Splitting a PDF means breaking one document into smaller ones, or pulling a few pages out of a larger file. It keeps files small enough to email, lets you share only what someone needs, and saves you from scrolling through hundreds of pages to find one. You also keep your original untouched, because the split pages are saved as new files.
Choosing Pages
Individual pages
Tap or click the pages you want. Each one gets a checkbox and a thumbnail, so you can pick by what you see rather than by number. Hold Shift on a computer to select everything between two pages.
Page ranges
Type a range such as 3-6 to take pages 3 to 6. Use 7- to mean page 7 to the end of the document.
Multiple ranges
Combine as many as you like, for example 1-3, 5, 8-10. The checkboxes and the range box always stay in sync, so you can mix both.
Three ways to split
Each page
Creates one PDF for every selected page. Handy for separating scanned sheets, forms or invoices that were saved together.
Each range
Creates one PDF for every range you entered, such as one file per chapter or per section.
Selected pages
Combines your selection into a single new PDF, in the order you typed it. Ideal for pulling out the pages you need to share.
Common Uses
Documents and contracts
Send only the pages that matter, such as a signature page or a single clause, instead of the whole file.
Reports
Split a long report into chapters or pull out one section for a colleague.
Assignments and study
Submit just the pages an assignment asks for, or separate a textbook or lecture pack by topic.
Scanned PDFs
Scanners often save a whole stack as one file. Split it into separate receipts, forms or letters in one go.
Your Files Stay on Your Device
Drag a PDF onto the upload area or choose one from your device. Everything happens in your browser, so your document is never uploaded, logged or stored. That matters for contracts, ID scans, medical records and anything else you wouldn't want on someone else's server. It's also fast, because there's no upload or download wait, and it keeps working even if your connection drops after the page has loaded.
