What is PDF rotation, and why is it useful?

Rotating a PDF changes the direction its pages face. It fixes scans that came out sideways or upside down, turns a landscape page so it reads upright on screen, and makes a document print the right way round. Instead of re-scanning or re-exporting a file, you can rotate PDF pages in a few seconds and save a corrected copy. Rotation is stored as a page setting, so the text stays sharp and the file size barely changes.

Rotation Options

Rotate 90° clockwise

Turns a page a quarter turn to the right. Use it for landscape pages that were scanned sideways, or to rotate a PDF 90 degrees so it reads upright.

Rotate 90° counter-clockwise

Turns a page a quarter turn to the left. It is the quick fix when a page is lying on its side the other way round.

Flip 180°

Turns a page upside down, or puts an upside-down page back the right way up. Handy for scans that were fed in backwards.

One page, several pages or all of them

Use the arrows under any page to turn just that one. Tap pages to select several and rotate them together, or choose All pages to turn the whole document in one go.

Rotate a PDF Without Uploading It

Everything happens in your browser. Your PDF is read and rotated on your own device, so it is never uploaded, logged or stored on a server. That matters for contracts, ID scans, medical records and anything else you wouldn't want to send to a stranger's website. Close the tab and nothing is left behind.

Supported PDFs

Standard PDFs

Documents, forms, reports, e-books and presentations saved as PDF, up to 100 MB each.

Scanned documents

Scans and photos saved as PDF work too, including files with a mix of portrait and landscape pages.

Password-protected files

Files that need a password to open can't be rotated. Remove the password first, then add the PDF here.

Works on Mobile and Desktop

The tool works in any modern browser on phones, tablets and computers, with nothing to install. On a touchscreen, tap a page to select it and use the large arrows to turn it. On a computer, hold Shift and click to select a run of pages, or drag a PDF straight onto the upload area.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I rotate a PDF online?
Add your PDF, then use the buttons to turn all pages, or select some pages and turn only those. You can also use the arrows under a single page. Click Rotate PDF, check the preview, then download the new file.
Can I rotate just one page?
Yes. Every page has its own left and right arrows underneath it. You can also select several pages and rotate them together, or rotate all of them at once.
Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?
No. The rotation happens in your browser, on your own device. Your PDF is never uploaded, logged or stored, so it is safe to use with contracts, ID scans and other private documents.
Does rotating a PDF reduce its quality?
No. The tool changes each page's rotation setting instead of re-drawing it, so text stays sharp and selectable, and images keep their original quality. The file size stays almost exactly the same.
Can I undo a rotation?
Yes, before you create the file. Turn a page back with the opposite arrow, or press Reset to return every page to how it started. Your original PDF is never changed, because the tool saves a new copy.
Will the rotated PDF look the same in every viewer?
Yes. Browsers, Adobe Acrobat, Preview and phone PDF apps all follow the page's rotation setting, so the pages open the way you saw them in the preview.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. The page buttons are sized for touch, and the whole tool works in a mobile browser without installing an app. Very large PDFs may be slower on older phones.
