Your text never leaves your device
What is a text splitter?
A text splitter, also called a text chunker, cuts a long piece of text into smaller parts. Splitting by a fixed size gives you evenly sized chunks. Splitting by sentences, paragraphs or a delimiter keeps natural units together. Each chunk gets its own card with a character and word count, so you can copy just the part you need.
Splitting Modes Explained
Characters
Cut the text into chunks of a fixed length, such as 160 characters for SMS or 280 for a post. By default chunks end at the last space, so words are not cut in half.
Words
Group the text into chunks with the same number of words, such as 100 words each. Line breaks inside a chunk are kept as they were.
Sentences
Detects where sentences end, including after abbreviations like Dr. and e.g., then groups a set number of sentences per chunk.
Paragraphs
Splits on blank lines, or on every line break if you prefer, and groups the paragraphs into chunks of the size you choose.
Custom delimiter
Splits wherever a character or string appears, such as | ; --- or ###. Use \n for a line break and \t for a tab. Blank parts can be skipped automatically.
Common Uses
Chunking for AI tools
Break long documents into pieces that fit a context limit, with word or character sizes you control.
Logs and data
Split exported logs, lists and CSV-style text on a delimiter, or into evenly sized parts that are easier to review.
Essays and transcripts
Divide a long draft or transcript by paragraphs or sentences to edit, translate or share it one section at a time.
SMS and social posts
Turn a long message into 160 or 280 character parts without cutting words in half, then copy each one separately.
Your Text Stays on Your Device
Everything on this page runs in your browser. Your text is never uploaded, logged or stored, which makes it safe for drafts, transcripts, logs and anything else you'd rather keep to yourself. It's also fast, because there's no waiting on a server, and it keeps working even if your connection drops after the page has loaded.
Works on Mobile and Desktop
The splitter works in any modern browser on phones, tablets and computers, with nothing to install. The chunks sit in a scrollable list of cards, each with its own copy button. On a phone the controls stack and every button is sized for touch.
